How to CUT OUT SUGAR FROM YOUR DIET

It is easy to cut out sugar from your diet. If you are anything like me, you LOVE your sweets. But, sugar is bad for your health and cannot be eaten by people with diabetes. Here are some wonderful alternatives that can totally replace sugar in your diet, in your cooking, and in your life! Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

Firstly, I want to state that before you make any changes in your diet or try any new sweeteners, always check with your doctor first, especially if you have a condition that is effected by sugars.

The first product that is wonderful in replacing sugar is Agave Nectar. It comes form the Agave plant, a succulent type of cactus. It is a low-glycemic index food, and does not raise the blood sugar. It tastes WONDERFUL and does not change the flavor of your recipes or your tea/coffee. It bakes really well and once you start using it to bake with, sugar will seem dry and flat. Agave makes all your cookies chewy and delicious. Plus, you can eat them without having to worry! No sugar spikes!

You can fin Agave Nectar at any health food store, natural foods market, and some grocery stores. If you have trouble locating it you can always find it online.

The second product that is a great sugar replacement is Stevia. Stevia comes directly from the Stevia plant, and contains no additive or other ingredients. It is 10-15 times sweeter than sugar, so a little bit goes a long way. It has no effect on blood sugar. Stevia can be found in powdered form, liquid form, and can come in many different flavors such as hazelnut and Irish cream. Stevia does have a slightly distinctive taste to it, but it is wonderful to use for diabetics because it does not raise the blood sugar at all!

Making the transition to get off of sugar can be easy now that there are so many wonderful sugar replacements. One word of warning: stay away from anything sweetened with aspartame, or any other chemical or artificial sweetener. Agave Nectar and Stevia are completely natural, aspartame is not and can pose significant health risks for those who consume it.
